Asus' 3G Essential IP Outnumbers LG

Asus, the first cellular supplier to obtain essential IP in Taiwan, now possesses eight 3G cellular essential IPs, surpassing the number of LG. However, compared with the major brands like Qualcomm whose essential IPs accounts for 20%-30% of the total patents, the number of the essential IPs that Asus owns still prevents Asus from cross-licensing with major brands, thus bringing very limited benefit in reducing premiums at the current stage.
